Joanna Jakubiecmodel
Interview by: silverio pantalla

Why did you become a model?
Well, I always have been involved in work in front of the camera - as for my dream from always has been acting - This is something i really enjoy to do and have been doing most of my life. So I have been involving in some modeling projects in my past as well, but I never considered it seriously, and creatively found it too "limiting" comparing to acting for example. It's only few years ago I took this field more seriously, after doing some shots for myself only, I discovered it is really something I do enjoy and that it can be really creative and funny!

How was the Anti-Flirt 2002 and how did you win the contest?
First - those who wished to participate at the contest did submitted the information and photos to the ANTI-FLIRT address - then the firm itself chose the ones that would definitively take part of it, based on such criteria as attitude, and look of the model.

Then the chosen ones were featured in the ANTI-FLIRT site and exposed to the votes of the general public. One vote per 24 hour period were allowed, and the contest went through until the beginning of September, 2002.

What is your favorite thing about modeling?
I really enjoy the creative process of it! And apart from it, I am also very sensible to beauty - in wherever form it can be…

Where has been your most exciting gig and why?
It's hard to say, every project I am involved in is exciting for me. Maybe more of those that involve sensuality, creativity and high fashion…

If you could have just one wish; what would it be?
To always keep my passion and joy for life.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet and why?
I would definitely love to meet the famous psychoanalyst - Carl Jung. I have been reading his autobiography recently - I think I never did read something as interesting as this book in my whole life - for me this man is just genius! I would really love to discuss with him about human mind nature. :)

Another person that I would love to meet is my grandfather's mother. After her family had been deported to Siberia, Russia because of political reasons - she returned to Poland from the very east-end of Russia by herself, alone, with 7 children. Three of them died on the way as well as her husband from sickness.

In order to survive and feed her family, she had to sell almost everything she had. I have nothing but admiration for her, and her courage and determination - and would love to have known her personally.

The same goes for Isabelle Eberarth - a woman that in the beginning of the 20th Century, disguised in men habits, formed a group that fought for the rights of the simple people in the desert of North Africa….

I really admire women like her - who are willing to do anything because of them passion. I have lived in North Africa, and just like her, I truly love that part of the world - so it would be really interesting if I could have met her.

What is the biggest misunderstanding about you?
Well, I believe we are all having different ways to perceive things, ideas… about life and other things. So there can be as many different perceptions (and so misunderstandings) about me as there are people in the world, ha ha ha. Being aware of them, I try not to take personally. As for most of time, it's nothing about me.

Who have been some of your main influences as a model and a person?
My father that transmitted me his passion for life and determination to go after what you want too. And my mother for her courage and creativity - I truly admire both of them!

Another very important person in my life is my teacher from the film school in Poland where I have been study drama in- Waldemar Wilhelm (he is also the director of a puppet theater in Poland pinokio.art.pl.This man is one of the more amazing persons I ever had chance to meet - apart of being a really talented artist - it's someone with an incredible intelligence and knowledge about life and human nature. I think I never learned as much as with him not only about acting, but also about myself mostly:)

There also have been many writers and philosophers that influenced my life, and made me more aware - such as Nietzsche, A.S. Neill, Maria Rainer Rilke, Zweig and Anais Nin.

As for the models - I love the sensuality and femininity of Laeticia Casta - Also Milla Jovovitch personality - there are many "beautiful" models - but not much that make "L'Oreal lipstick" as interesting as she does. She is a truly creative and interesting person, and this is the reason why she is on top I believe.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I do not really have any definite "material" plans - instead I just wish to still keep my passion, spontaneity and joy for life, wherever I will be doing at. :)
