Who
is the Sophia Rosado?
Sophia Rosado is a girl with dreams and aspirations, A girl who
grew up in the suburbs dreaming that someday she would become famous
and have all the money in the world to buy everything she ever dreamed
of, regardless of the fact that she comes from a place where many immediately
would assume it is a place of losers with no goals; a girl with determination
who would fall and get right back up and continue work hard at reaching
her goals.
Is
modeling all that you thought it would be?
Not exactly. In the beginning I thought It was just walking down
the aisle or just posing in front of a camera. I learned that It takes
alot of practice and effort.
You have
to really love what you do in order to overcome all the obstacles that
come with a modeling career.
Why
do you feel that you that you have an advantage over other models?
If we
look at all the modeling magazines today, we usually see
the typical size 3, tall, blond, blue eyed model. It is to my advantage
that the urban look is rising these days. The type of females being
sought have vuloptuous bodies such as myself.
What
is your biggest claim to fame?
My biggest claim to fame would be seeing a picture of myself
in one of those large advertising ads that you see on top of billboards
over highways and department stores and seeing myself in the front cover
of a famous urban magazine.
How
did your modeling career start?
My sister Sarah loves to take pictures. She began taking
photos of me in all different poses with different outfits and It became
more and more fun to be in front of a camera and even more fun looking
at the results of the photos. She has been an incredible and encouraging
inspiration in my desire to become a model.
If
you could meet anyone living or dead; who would that be and why?
I would love to have met Aaliyah, God rest her soul. In my
early years I admired her very much. I loved her music her style her
mature attitude
and the way she danced. Unfortunately, she died tragically, but her
legecy still lives on. As proof of that, I have many photos of her still
hanging in my room.
If
you had to choose one outfit: what would it look-like?
In my early teens I did not want to look like everyone else.
I created my own fashion statement by wearing what none of the kids
in the block would ever wear.
I
dressed in mix match bold colors and wore chain belts and owned many
different pairs of converse sneakers. I got a lot of slack from the
neighborhood kids but I did not care. In the long run many of the girls
started admiring me and even started dressing like me. They gave me
the nickname Unique. It was a good feeling. So I can say that
If I had to choose one outfit it would definitely be my very own creation.
Something wild, bold, funky and colorful.
What
kind of advise would you give someone starting out in the business?
I would advise someone that is starting out, not to let negative
feedback affect them. This business is really difficult, with much
competition and they have to be emotionally ready for it. There
will be
times when certain agencies will not like their photos or their looks
and may even say some pretty hurtful things, but then there are others
who will love your look.
Generally,
my advise is not to give up if a modeling career is what they really
want.
Do
you have any secrets for your success?
Confidence.
That
is the secret to any success. I have seen models who are not the typical
beauty, but because they glow with confidence and gracefulness they
make it as top models.
Who
have been some of your main influences as a model and as a person?
Tara Banks has been my main influence as a model
and as a person. She is a strong black woman who exudes the right attitude
to make it in this business. I never miss her show "America's
next top model".
I
especially listen to her criticism of the contestants because It helps
me to improve myself.
Why
did you want to become a widemag model citizen?
I want to become a widemag model citizen because it gives
me the opportunity and exposure to show my work and also to let others
know that I am serious about my modeling career. Also, I am proud to
be featured on a site that is selective in choosing their models because
it shows me that I have what it
take. - great answer.
What
is the strangest thing that has happen at a photo shoot?
The strangest thing that has happened to me at a photo shoot
was working with a photographer who constantly interrupted the photo
session to eat.
-
I never heard of that one before!
If
you could be a super hero, who would you be and why?
I would have to say Wonder Woman. My mother was a fanatic
about the show and she always urged me to watch the reruns with her.
What I liked about this super hero is that she was a female who could
go anywhere without limits.
- I bet you would look great as WW!
What
is the best thing about being a model?
The best thing about modeling is the rush that you get when
you're all dressed up looking glamerous and feeling like a million bucks.
Where
do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I see myself 10 years from now having already made it as
a model and being the one giving advice to young aspiring models.
