Decadence
Night @
Orlando
-- In a city where decadence is not allowed at least on the surface, one club
decides to take a bold move to counter the squeaky clean cut image of Disney.
Decadence Nights have become the ultimate outlet for some members of O-town.
People on the streets are singing nowadays "Who let the dogs out?",
in this case is more of;"Who let the freaks out?".
The
so called Children of the Night, come out to play make believe or at least
close to it. Most of the participants are on their early 20's with a few exceptions.
The majority are still trying to find that elusive person Freud referred
to as to the one and only self. Mike Roberts, a Central Florida psychologist says: "it's a very natural behavior for young people to express themselves in a way in which they see no long lasting harm. Not that there is harm involved on this." Roberts concluded that: "for most of the people at these festivals is like another day to celebrate Halloween. They are simply living their own most intimate fantasies with others like them". There is simply everything and anything that you could imagine happening here. Fetishes become the focus of this night of decadence. People dressed in leather, like bikers and or dominatrixes with their feathers, whips and chains. There are winged fairies, Marilyn Monroe look-a-likes and bodies not wearing much at all, just paint. Music
played a big role as well. Much of the fashions seem to relate very well to the
sounds coming from the P.A. system. The D.J. was spinning some very crafty mixes,
while some of the participants sang and recite original poetry. There is indeed a high sense of fantasy and fashion. The feel is loud and colorful. Creativity is in high gear, whether it fits your taste or not. Decadence Night it's not for everyone, but for those who come, it's all that and a bowl of wax!
