The
Big Easy
welcomes the World of Silicon and Plastic
and Smut Fantastic
New Orleans -- In a place known world wide for it's share of controversy, expressionistic freedom and just pure buffoonery, it seem very logic choice for the Crescent City to hold the Internet's Adult Industry trade show.
The four day event kicked off with the Python Golf Challenge played at the Teeth of the Gator, Eastover Golf Club. The rest of the day was just to rest because the night belonged to several parties, including the now classic Players Ball. D-Money hosted the event in which years past has seen likes
of the Digital Underground, Parliament Funkadelic, Fishbone,
Ice-T and of course, plenty of porn stars. This years event had on the
card Kid Capri, Slick Rick and
Too Short among others. There were other parties that evening as well. Robin's Amateur Bash at the famous Tricou House was one of the hottest places to be. Over 30 Webmasters and Mmistresses partied the night away with some of their fans. "It was a great time to meet your favorite amateur", said John Nixon. It was not all parties at this convention. Business was key for most who attended. The days were filled with very insightful seminars, giving the participants a great wealth of information. It was very well presented and touched almost every part of the business whether you are a newbie or a veteran of the business.
Just like with any other tradeshow, a plethora of advertising pieces were in place for the take. T-shirts, pens, hats, stickers and dildos were just a cross section of goodies to bag home. Interestingly enough, the booths were just as impressive. The show had no shortage of celebrities either including many not necessarily associated with the PRON (cyber-word for porn) industry. Former basketball bad-boy Dennis Rodman was there to check more than the pretty girls. "The convention gets better and larger each time around", said one spoke person from Flashhost, a web hosting company. "Our industry is growing leaps and bounds and thats good for the most part", he concluded. An
amateur webmaster though, had a different take on the convention. "The
industry is getting very corporate like. The amount of suits each year grows larger
and larger", he said. "If you get too large and somewhat
successful, the big boys will either try to buy you out or take you down.",
concluded.
