Mick & Keith
Show is ready to roll once again
by: cece kegg
New York
-- Start me up! The original bad boys of rock have decided to spend
the nights together around the world once again. This is really nothing new
for the longest running show in rock n roll. "We're
not reinventing the wheel", said Mick Jagger about the new tour
and reunion with his ol' pal Keith Richards. Like U2 and Paul
McCartney did in 2001, the Stones will slim down to the bare bones
of music. "Our guitars will do most of the talking this time",
said Richards. "I mean, how many dolls can you blow up?" The
Stones revealed that they will begin their tour September 5th in Boston.
They will crisscross the country until February 1st. Internationally, Mick
and the boys will shoot disparos in places such as Mexico, Australia, Japan
and China. For first time, the chinese will have an opportunity to sing along
Brown Sugar live, while Mick swing his hips. They
will paint black Europe in May of 2003 and will work on songs for a new retrospective
40 greatest hits album due just in time for their 40th anniversary in 2004. The
tour will also give fans many different tastes of their favorite band. For instance,
in New York the band will play Giants Stadium, Madison Square Garden
and the Roseland Ballroom. In all three shows the fans might get a whole
different experience. Mixed Emotions for sure will arise. Sometimes you
can't always get what you want. Jagger
explained that the reasoning for the different venues within one city is to give
the fans and the band something new and perhaps different. "You have to
do certain songs for the bigger shows, and other ones at the smaller clubs". "We
may even have theme nights", said Mick. "One night
could be just 80's and another just blues. We could play a whole album or a greatest
hits", added Jagger. Sympathy
for the Devil will come at a price. Ticket prices for the shows will range
from $25 dollars in the nosebleed sections at certain stadiums to $350 for reserved
seating near the stage. Fans checking out Angie into the clubs will pay
in the $75 to $100 range. The prices might give the Honky Tonk Blues. When
asked on why are the almost 60 year olds touring again, Richards answered;
"What's the big deal about still working? Retirement age is sixty-five,
and that's at a normal job -- and I ain't there yet. I'm just doing what I do". The
Stones are schedule to do their Harlem Shuffle in the Sunshine State on
October when they will play at the National Car Rental Center on (Ruby)
Tuesday 22nd, and the American Airlines Arena on the 23rd. Tickets
will go on sale Saturday June 8th. The
band has left a few days off before they will play Atlanta's Turner Field
on the 26th. I hope time is on ours side for them to play a show in the central
Florida area. I know it's only Rock & Roll, but I like it. Here
