Has the American Way
of living
turned GAY?

widemag presents its open forum. A forum that is uncensored and encourages viewers responses.
widemag
will present a cross section of readers responses.

What is America coming to? Are we a nation of freaks or what? Why are we so crazy about gays and lesbians nowadays?

Let me just start by saying that by no way I am gay, I have never been gay and I will never be gay. I am 100% man. There are no women or gay genes in me. It is totally imposible for me to be a gay man. Not for a moment, nor ever.

On the same token, this column is not intended to harm or bash gays and lesbians. I do have many friends that have gay and lesbian friends and really that is their own fucking business. What they do in the privacy of their own, is their own business.

"Has the American Way of living turned Gay?"

"It's freaking ridiculous. I mean it's freaking everywhere."

"America will have to realize that gays and lesbians are the largest growing minority in this country."

"Some of the most creative people in history had been gay. Rosie O'Donell does not belong in that group."

"My father is gay and I still love him just the same way. We need to accept everyone as they are. Americans are so homophobic."

"It's a shame that there is NOT enough gay and lesbian shows on network television. "

"Gays and lesbians are not good role models for kids. It's ridiculous to think otherwise."

"I don't mind gays. Now lesbians is another thing. It's disgusting"

"I really don't care if people are gay or not. It bothers me that all of the sudden they are coming out of the woodwork and try to cram it down on me. I dont see anybody that is straight doing that. I am straight, not that there is anything wrong with that."

(Straight) forward, dumb... See life for what it is, all of it.

My biggest gripe is that the media is force feeding me gay banter 24/7. Let me explain what I am trying to say:

I went to the supermarket the other day, just like I usually do. I spent about 30 minutes picking up my goods and head for the check out lanes. It is there where I see the headline; Rosie O'Donnell comes out of the closet.

As a casual observer I nod my head and continue the process of getting all my groceries out of the cart. As I finish placing all my items on the belt, I noticed two young women behind laughing out loud. As I turn to see what was so damn funny, one of them says to the other; "I knew it, I knew she was gay. That's great!".

What is so great about the news of this former VH1 vj being gay or lesbian or whatever? Why is it even news in the first place? I mean, you did not hear nothing about Harrison Ford or Kid Rock being straight. No, of course not. So why are we so crazy about gays?

Yesterday, I found that O'Donnell is fighting for the rights of gays and lesbians to adopt and raise children in the state of Florida. Isn't that just a little too much? Why is this such a big issue? I personally dont think gays or lesbians are the best role models to raise children. That is my opinion and it should be taken as that, my opinion.

Now there is also news about the cable giant Showtime teaming up with MTV to launch an all gay television network. Do we need another tv channel? Isn't Will & Grace enough?

What's next America? Is America the land of the FREE and home of the BRAVE (GAY)?
