Why is the "Under God" line of the Pledge of Allegiance under Scrutiny?

Are you freaking kidding me?

After all of what has transpired in the last year, do we really need to go into the courts for the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our United States of America?

What the hell is happening with our own people?

First of all, and before I start, I would like you read after me:
I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

"Under God"
Pledge of Allegiance"

"Much ado about nothing. A court is once again wasting tax payers time and money on something completely silly."

"The Court’s calendar being as crowded as it is, we shouldn’t be surprised that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals got around to playing its April Fool’s joke in June."

"I believe that this person has the right to say whatever he wants. Putting his second grader daughter through this, is cruel. He should be ashamed."

"Did they actually think that the recitation of the pledge, including the words "under God," by thousands of schoolchildren each day would somehow lead to the establishment of a state, i.e., federal, religion?"

"I believe in separation of church and state, so the line UNDER GOD does not belong on a public pledge."

"The pledge, in other words, is backwards; but having been written by a socialist, is no doubt intended to be that way."

"This guy Michael Newdow is just an imbecil trying to pull this one on us American people."

"The day they take IN GOD WE TRUST from our currency, they can take UNDER GOD from the Pledge of Allegiance."

O.K., now that we have pissed off some people in the west coast, let me just say that I am not sorry if you got upset. I mean, c-mon!

Ever since I can remember, I have recited the Pledge of Allegiance with the pride and dignity that it deserves. I have never thought for one minute, the inclusion of God, being something that may impose one's beliefs and much less offend.

Our country is a land of freedom and we should defend our liberties tooth and nail. America is also a democracy in which the majority rules. Most Americans believe in a supreme being or God. It is the reason why are money say "In God we trust".

Now, Michael Newdow believes otherwise. He has pushed a law suit all the way to a federal appeals court to declare the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional. His biggest concern is the "under God" line is offending his Elk Grove Unified School 2nd grade daughter.

A rulling was given in favor of Newdow in late June and revoked by the same California judge just as fast. What is going on in our country?

The members of Congress, by the most part, acted outraged by the rulling. "This absurd decision was made by a court run amok," said House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, R-Texas. "This Congress is not going to let anyone strip our nation of our proud heritage — not now, not ever."

This lame law suit should have not gotten as far as it did in our court system. The judge was asinine to rule in favor of Mr. Newdow. It is obvious that this guy just wanted to have his fifteen minutes of fame.

What do you think of our Pledge of Allegiance? Should they eliminate or omit the part of God? and What is next America?
