What are We the People going to do with the WTC?
Many have voice their opinion on this very sensitive subject, throughout polls all across America. Others have even made designs for the new World Trade Center. The thinking is to build a memorial within the real estate of the former WTC. The question is: how much of a percentage of the area will be used for that purpose? This issue is one of the hottest topics to hit the airwaves in recent times. It is not only a New York thing, it is an American thing. After all, the events of September 11th and the destruction of the towers had affected us all.
Now that a year has passed and we have had some time to think and reflect about it: what are we going to do about it? A large number believe that we should build once again in that area of lower Manhattan. The question is simple and yet as complex as a New York Minute. How are we going to replace the WTC? Others believe that we should raise a complex not as tall as the original WTC. The thinking behind that is to be a bit more human and try to find a closer relation to our own scale relation. Another group would rather see a much larger and taller complex. A sense of radical defiance and pride combined within a great feeling of patriotism. There are even some folks that would like to see the space to be left alone since it is now holy ground. Some of them say that we should pay tribute to them, not build over them. So here I am, once again asking you for your opinion. Should we build in the same locale? Should we carbon copy the Twin Towers? Should we build a larger, taller complex? Should we just leave the area alone?
